POSITION:                    Janitor

STATUS:                        Permanent, Part-time

DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Janitor is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of the overall site, both inside and outside. The worker will also ensure that building functions such as mechanical, plumbing, and electrical are properly maintained. This is a part-time role with a flexible schedule, 4 days/week and 8 hours/day.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

General

  • Cleans and sanitizes all desks, counters and windowsills.
  • Empties wastebaskets and replaces plastic liners as applicable.
  • Cleans and dusts phones, computer screens and keyboards.
  • Removes marks and smudges from doors, walls, light switches and partition glass.
  • Maintains client waiting area to an optimum level of appearance.
  • Vacuums carpeted floors and mats as needed.
  • Sweeps tile floors and uses damp mop or cleaning machine (Zamboni) as needed.
  • Dusts blinds.
  • Cleans boardroom tables.
  • Dusts photocopiers and fax machines and removes smudges.
  • Cleans and sanitizes handrails.

Lunchrooms

  • Cleans and sanitizes:
    • Sinks, counters, tabletops
    • Appliance exteriors
    • Microwave interiors
    • Refrigerator interiors
  • Replenishes paper products and soaps.
  • Sweeps and mopes floors with a sanitized solution.
  • Empties and sanitizes recyclables and garbage.

Washrooms

  • Cleans and sanitizes:
    • Sinks, counters and toilet seats
    • Faucets, mirrors, dispensers, handles, metal brightwork
  • Paper products and soaps replenished as needed.
  • Replenishes paper products and soaps.
  • Sweeps and mops floors with a sanitized solution.
  • Empties and sanitizes garbage.

 

Other Daily and Monthly Activities

  • Promotes safe work practices as outlined in the Worksafe B.C. regulations.
  • Uses PPE where applicable.
  • Ensure the Company’s quality policies and procedures are followed.
  • Participate in 1 X 1 meetings with Maintenance Manager.
  • Perform all other related duties as required.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position and carry out heavy cleaning duties
  • Proven written and verbal communications skills, as well as, exceptional time management and organizational skills
  • Autonomous working
  • Quality customer service will be provided at all times.
  • Knowledge or willingness to learn proper cleaning techniques is essential
  • Be a proactive and self-starter who will show initiative and operate with minimum supervision
  • Mechanically inclined and able to solve minor issues.
  • Have the ability and ready willingness to listen to and follow directions for duties to be performed
  • Be able to work constructively as a team player
  • Perform duties in a friendly, supportive, caring manner towards staff
